抗战年代，夜总会小丑董国民（钟镇涛 饰）不堪忍受日寇对上海的肆意轰炸，毅然告别叔父投军，出发之前，董国民在苏州桥下与一名女子一见钟情，他们约定胜利后再见……时间一晃十年，董国民回到上海，自此时常在苏州桥下徘徊，渴望再遇当年人，然而物是人非，此时的桥下只有几个落魄的老兵露宿。董国民楼下的舞小姐阿舒（张艾嘉 饰）收留了一名来沪女子邓仔（叶倩文 饰），并给她生活上的帮助，二人以姐妹相称。董国民与邓仔在天台邂逅，虽然邓仔并非董国民所误会的当年人，但仍对这位青年产生了好感。不久阿舒亦介入了这段关系，但为成全邓仔，阿舒选择了退出。不久董国民终于发现阿舒正是桥下的当年人，而此刻，阿舒却与别人踏上了南下的列车…… 　　本片为徐克电影工作室的开山之作。。When Isabella Tree and her husband arrived at the rural estate they had inherited and saw the vast swathes of farmland that came with it, they immediately saw how sick the land was—entire habitats destroyed, bird and plant species gone extinct, fields saturated with chemicals.
