1964年夏，北京某火车站，夜幕笼罩下，两个神秘的军人正注视着上火车的大学生。火车上，宋朝和伍岩松意外相见，伍的恋人郭小艳和师弟向旗也在火车上，他们还认识了来自东北的技术工人孔汉川，大家还是猜测不出火车会把他们拉到哪里去……。Try as he might, the roguishly handsome Cliff Starkey, just can't keep out of trouble. In his sleepy home town on the English coast, nothing much inspires him...apart from bowls. Cliff has always preferred to play by his own rules much to the disapproval of the regimented, elderly bowls fraternity.
