1945年8月,日寇无条件投降。羊角大娘(丁一 饰)在回村的路上捡到一个弃婴,从包裹婴儿的衣服上看,这应是一个日本小孩,犹豫再三,她还是把他抱回了家。村里乡亲和家人处于对日寇的痛恨,坚决反对她收养这个敌国婴儿,但人性善良的羊角大娘最终留下了他,取名狗娃,当孙子养着。渐渐长大的狗娃善解人意,他把羊角大娘的哑巴儿子葫芦(尤勇 饰)视为父亲,不料葫芦在一次筑路事故中遇难,无奈之下狗娃被送给无儿无女的牛金川(祝士彬 饰)。再后来,日渐年迈的大娘为给女儿秀秀(李婷 饰)换回一笔出嫁的彩礼,把狗娃送给了清凉寺。二十年后,随国家佛教代表团出访的明镜法师(濮存新 饰)到达日本,大岛和子(栗原小卷 饰)从那根腰带上认出了眼前的明镜法师就是自已失散了几十年的儿子......。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。
