该剧是一部梦想成为现代版林尚玉的女子龙秀晶（严贤京饰）与绝症患者吕义柱（徐俊英饰）相遇，两人开展了一段从摇篮到坟墓的浪漫复仇故事。。入世纪末叶，京城之内出现了一群武艺高强且极富正义感的侠客，专门惩治武林败类，义除赃官，抚弱济贫，人称“京城镖局”，为首的就是闻名遐尔的大刀王五，他们不仅除恶扬善还投身救国。戊戌变法失败后，兄弟们齐心协办，深入牢营解救谭嗣同出狱，但谭嗣同仍以忠君为本，谢绝了镖局兄弟一片侠情义胆，慨然就义，王五等人只好洒泪告别。随后他们又开始了暗杀窃国大盗袁世凯的计划……。It's amazing to have finally seen this lost film. Poor Mark Burns died this year without ever having seen the finished film! Why was it lost? It's quite good but I can understand that even if this film had a normal release in cinemas it would not have been a hit. It's too sad and tragic. The performances are great, tho.
